Kolkata: Violence continues post results in Kolkata. Chaos broke out in Kamarhati and New Barrackpore on Friday.
In the first incident, it was reported that a CPM office was ransacked in Shahid Sriti Colony in Kolkata. The police were also attacked. Stones were pelted at them which injured 3 police officers. One of the injured police officers are in a critical condition. The TMC activists have been accused for carrying out the attack though they have completely denied it. The police have filed a complaint against the ruling party. On the other hand, the TMC party has even filed a complaint against the police in return.
In the second incident, the TMC activists have allegedly attacked a CPM leader Manik Dutta Gupta’s house in New Barrackpore. The TMC goons have been accused of ransacking other places also, apart from the leader’s house. The police also faced the attack while trying to bring the situation under control. The police resorted to lathicharge to bring the situation under control. The goons have even attacked the New Barrackpore police station.
Stones were pelted at the police station which injured several including the OC of the police station. The TMC goons have also been accused of shooting gunfire at the police station. It has been reported that the entire anarchy was carried out under the leadership of a local TMC leader Sukhen Mazumder. Sukhen is the husband of the chairman of Barrackpore Municipality Tripti Mazunder. The police have arrested 10 people, including a TMC councilor, till now.
