PM ‘Spreading Lies’ On Demonetisation, Accuses Mamata

Kolkata: Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “spreading lies” on the demonetisation issue, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday claimed that Rs 1.28 lakh crore have been lost forever due to the scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.

“Shocking that Rs 1.28 lakh crore have been lost forever due to note-ban only in ‘transactions’ in the country, says CMIE, top research body. World-famous Moody’s says ‘note ban will badly disrupt economic activity’,” Banerjee said in a statement here.

“Common people are suffering miserably while Modi Ji is relaxing and spreading lies,” she said.

Claiming that the Opposition has united in the movement against demonetisation, Banerjee yesterday said any movement was bound to succeed if people were involved in a massive way.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today also called him “a bad politician and a worse administrator” who is spreading lies and relaxing even as the common people continue to suffer.

“Modi ji has lost all credibility. A bad politician and even worse administrator. He is lying,” she said in a statement here.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief, who is at the forefront of the opposition attack against the Modi government on the issue, said, “All opposition is united, and you are divided!”

Banerjee, who had staged dharna in Delhi on November 23, also met President Pranab Mukherjee yesterday on the issue.

TMC would organise a rally in the city on November 28.

The TMC supremo is scheduled to address a meeting in Lucknow on November 29 and in Patna the next day.
