PM, Prez Pay Tribute To Nehru on His Birth Anniversary


New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President M. Hamid Ansari on Monday paid floral tributes to the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 127th birth anniversary.

The President and the Vice President arrived at the Shanti Vana – the memorial of Nehru on the banks of river Yamuna.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tribute to the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.

“Tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary,” Modi tweeted. Nehru was born to Motilal Nehru and Swaroop Rani on November 14, 1889, in Allahabad.

He remained in office until his death on May 27, 1964. As Nehru’s birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day, school children also gathered at the memorial to pay tributes.
