PM Presides Over Combined Commander Conference


Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presides over a combined commanders’ conference that began on Tuesday morning aboard INS Vikramaditya, stationed about 40 nautical miles on the high seas.

Modi was scheduled to address the meeting and review demands that would come up during discussions. Those present at the meeting included the three chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force, high ranking defense officials and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. The meeting was expected to continue till 1 pm.

INS Vikramaditya is a modified Kiev-class aircraft carrier that was inducted in the Indian Navy in 2013, before returning to Delhi from the state capital. Modi will meet the Kerala cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Oomen Chandy.
