New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a National Programme for street lighting and LED home lighting to reduce the energy consumption.
The Prime Minister Modi also launched online pre-registration to avail LED bulbs for households in the national capital.
Power Ministry said that up to 2 LED lights will be distributed at an upfront payment of 10 rupees each.
The Ministry said, LED based lights reduce energy consumption by 88 percent as compared to normal bulb.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said this small step will go a long way in brightening the future of the country in energy sector.
