Xian: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a summit level talk with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Xian in China. President Xi warmly welcomed PM Modi at the Shaanxi Guest House. In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Modi appreciated the Chinese leader for warmly receiving him outside Beijing.
President Xi in turn, recalled his visit to Ahmadabad in September last year where he was warmly received by PM Modi. He said he was glad to receive receive the PM in his hometown.
Foreign Secretary S.Jaishankar said that substantive talks were held between the two leaders which included strengthening trust between the two sides, trade, economic cooperation and ways to boost mutual trust among the two Asian giants.
During the talks India was likely to ask China to take steps to balance the bilateral trade which is currently in China’s favor. India and China are likely to sign over 20 business agreements during the visit.
Prime Minister Modi has said he wants to focus on how India and China can further strengthen mutual trust and confidence, so as to realise the full potential of the relationship.
