PM Draws Line, Says No Abuse on Social Media

New Delhi: Days after #SelfieWithDaughters Twitter event witnessed heavy-duty misogyny and abuse on Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asked his supporters on social media to show restraint in language and conduct.

At an informal interaction at his residence with about 125 prominent social media supporters hosted by MyGov, a government of India platform, Modi is reported to have said, “Friends, please display restraint in language and conduct. We can always put across our point of view in proper language.”

“Positive things said in a positive manner” was his motto for the social media users. Modi is one of the most popular politicians on Twitter with over 11 million followers; he has almost 3 crore followers on Facebook.
