PM Condoles Death Of Karunanidhi, To Visit Chennai


New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to tweeter to condole the death of DMK icon M Karunanidhi. He will visit Chennai to pay homage to the leader of Tamil Nadu.

He tweeted:

PM Narendra Modi captioned it as: “My thoughts are with the family and the countless supporters of Karunanidhi Ji in this hour of grief. India and particularly Tamil Nadu will miss him immensely. May his soul rest in peace.”

DMK Chief Karunanidhi Passes Away. Five time chief minister passed away at the age of 94. He breathed his last at 6:10 pm. He died due to multiple organ failure after being under treatment for 11 days at the Kauvery hospital in Chennai.

He was admitted to the hospital on July 28 after a dip in his blood pressure. He was initially critical but later on was stable.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday had expressed her concern
over the health condition of DMK chief M Karunanidhi, who was being treated for
fever due to an urinary tract infection.

Banerjee prayed for a quick recovery of the 94-year-old veteran politician of Tamil
Nadu. She has presently rushed to Chennai.

DMK supporters and followers broke down outside the hospital. Official announcement made at 6:40 pm. Security beefed up in the state. Family present at the hospital.
