PM Attends Prayers at Mahabodhi Temple


Gaya: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Bodh Gaya in Bihar on Saturday, visiting one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Buddhists and the place where Lord Buddha obtained enlightenment.

The Prime Minister’s visit to Bodh Gaya coincides with the international conclave SAMVAD – the Global Hindu Buddhist Initiative on Conflict Avoidance and Environment Consciousness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attends a ceremony in the temple premises as did the heads of delegations of 90 countries, including former Sri Lankan president Chandrika Kumaratunga and the foreign ministers of Japan, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Taiwan and other Buddhist countries.

In addition to addressing monks and religious heads of several countries, he will attend a special prayer and visit a photo exhibition on the Buddhist heritage and holy relics of Lord Buddha at the Mahabodhi Society of India.
