New Delhi: The renewed fare hike of the platform tickets have been implemented by the railway from April 01. The earlier fare of Rs.5 has been scrapped and now on the tickets will be costing Rs.10.
Although there has been no increase in the fares, made in the current Rail Budget presented by Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu, an increase in the prices of platform ticket is sure to make public unhappy. The railway has also imparted special authority to the Divisional Managers of Railway, through which they can increase the Platform Ticket prices more than Rs.10 on special occasions.
Now travellers can book train tickets four months in advance as the Railways has decided to extend the advance reservation period from 60 days to 120 days, with effect from April 1.
“The advance reservation period for booking reserved tickets have been extended from two months to four months now as announced in the Rail Budget 2015-16,” said a senior Railway Ministry official.
