Pingla Blast: Factory Owner Suraj Sheikh Arrested

Jangipur: The CID on Tuesday arrested Suraj Sheikh in connection to the Pingla blast which killed 12 people in West Midnapore’s Pingla area in the month of May.

Suraj Sheikh is the owner of the bomb making unit which was ripped apart and body parts flung on tress or hurled hundreds of meters away by the powerful explosion.

In the backdrop of the Khagragarh blasts, the explosion triggered conspiracy theories, with the finger being pointed at Trinamool Congress. Although National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths visited the blast site, state government ruled NIA investigation.

The West Bengal home department said that the act was not a terrorist ploy or in away related to the terror groups. The state government’s reluctant to NIA probe had raised many a question as the crude bomb making unit was alleged to be operated by Trinamool supporters.
