Kolkata: A PIL has been filed at the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday, seeking ban on Maggi in West Bengal. The petitioner urged the court to order a ban on Maggi in the state, citing the food regulatory bodies ban on the product for containing toxins like lead.

West Bengal government has given a clean chit to Maggi after conducting a food test of its own. CM Mamata said that no harmful chemical has been found in Maggi.

On the other hand various states have already banned Maggi after food tests revealed high level of lead and other toxins in the product.

Several Bollywood celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity zinta have been facing legal suits for endorsing Maggi.
