Kolkata: Ten central left labour unions have called for 48-hour strike on January 8-9. The Congress party has lent out its support to the strike. But a PIL has been filed in the High Court on Thursday opposing it. The PIL has been filed by lawyer Ramaprasad Sarkar.
A hearing is likely on Friday under the division bench of Chief Justice Maswanath Samaddar and Justice Arindam Mukherjee.
It needs mention that the labour unions have demands such as employment, minimum monthly income as Rs 18,000, monthly pension of Rs 6,000 for all and such other demands.
