Mumbai: They were match-made in Heaven. But something bottlenecked the whole fantasy. Ever since the news of Shah Rukh and Kajol starrer ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ being pulled out of Maratha Mandir at the end of the 1009-week, nearly 20-year-run broke, it was bursting.
Spontaneous outcry and heart-broken fans from all over the world tweeted to reinstate the movie. Even though the notice announced the end of the Shah Rukh-Kajol saga on its record running 1009 weeks, something took a huge turn. It was reported that the last show will be screened at 11:30 am without breaking the uninterrupted run of the movie.”
The decision regarding its future run will be taken after a meeting with Aditya Chopra, the chairman of Producer Yash Raj Films (YRF) on February 25.
“There were about 250 phone calls through the day with fans demanding why we are taking the film off the theatre. The fans are the ones who have kept it running for so many years. Overwhelmed by the response we have decided to extend its run for another week as of now,” said Manoj Desai, managing director, Maratha Mandir. An official statement released by the producer Yash Raj Films said that it was mutually decided between them and the theatre officials ‘to end the film’s historic and record-breaking run.’
