People’s Party of Arunachal Suspends CM Pema Khandu

Itanagar: In a move that can put the BJP supported new government of Arunachal Pradesh in fresh turmoil, the Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA) has suspended seven party lawmakers including current chief minister Pema Khandu.

This comes in the backdrop of serious differences within the PPA which now seems to have been divided into two factions – one consisting of old PPA members versus the new joinees who had defected from the Congress earlier this year led by chief minister Pema Khandu.

Today, PPA president Kahfa Bengia wrote to the state assembly speaker intimating him about the party’s “disciplinary action” against seven lawmakers and subsequent decision to place them under “temporary” suspension.
