Jalpaiguri: Here people are not crazy over religion. People are not emotionally driven to worship cow as ‘mother’. It’s an commitment to pursue the tradition. That is the reason behind the successful and century old ‘Goshala Mela’ (Cow-worship fair) that continuing for years in Jalpaiguri.
The ‘GoShala Fair’ started from Friday morning and stepped into one hundred and seven years. Anil Kumar Verma, member of fair committee said that, “We have a ritual to worship cow. People across the district comes to worship cow.”
Cow-worship which is continuing for 107 years. Centreing to the fair, many arrangement are done. Kusti (Indian form of wrestling) which the main attraction of the people.
The marwari community people used to keep their business shut during this festival. It is known as one of the ancient fair of the district.
