Balurghat: Passport service launched in Balurghat on Saturday. The service started from the head post office of Balurghat and now no one will have to run in Baharampur. Anybody can create a passport from Balurghat center through online application on mobile or computer.
MP Arpita Ghosh inaugurated the service. Deputy Inspector of the postal department of North Zone, CL Alfakjuala, Deputy Commissioner of the Kolkata Region of the Department of Passport, Sheikh Amin Khan attended the launch ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner of Kolkata Regional Passport Officer Sheikh Amin Khan said that 30 applicants in this center will get passport services daily at first. It will be further extended according to the requirement.
MP Arpita Ghosh said that the people of this district, who are surrounded by the border, will no longer have to go to Baharampur for passport. In this regard, she also thanked the Minister of External Affairs Sushma Saraj, along with Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
