Siliguri: Mamata Banerjee will preside over the second all party meeting over the ongoing Darjeeling bandh on Tuesday afternoon in Siliguri.
Representatives of the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha and other hill parties will discuss two important issues with the West Bengal chief minister.
Apart from a resolution of the record 90-day shutdown in Darjeeling, the issue of holding a tripartite meeting with the Centre is likely to drive the agenda. After an initial denial to participate in the meeting, GJM will send a seven-member delegation to the meeting led by GJM MLA Amar Singh Rai, said party General Secretary Roshan Giri.
Giri also said that they would push forward the demand for a separate state in the meeting. Ousted GJM leaders, Binay Tamang and Anit Thapa, will also attend the meeting. The two leaders were expelled by GJM chief Bimal Gurung after they announced a withdrawal of the movement.
We will attend the meeting as representative of GJM because state government extended the invitation to us. Binay Tamang to news agency.
Leaders from four hill parties, including GJM, met with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday with the request to hold tripartite talks.
