Kolkata: In demand of proper railway service DYF, SFI and several Left-Wing student associations have called off the train services in the Sealdah south section on Friday.
A panic was spread when the train suddenly started running injuring nearly sixty protesters amid the crowd, as per report some agitators are severely injured and their condition is critical. Injured are taken to the nearest hospital.
On this day several Left –Wing student association activists blocked the railway service in demand for the development of railway services at Sealdah south section. Stations like Jadavpur, Caning, Baruipur, Sonarpur, Baghajatin were blocked by the agitators.
Trains were also detained at Jadavpur station. An accusation came against the driver that during the ‘Rail Roko’ program was ongoing trains started to run amid the rally and many people were injured due to this.
A student leader claimed, “Our 60 members were injured when the panic spread out. Some people hurt their head while running to escape. And some have injured their legs, among whom the condition of three persons are critical. One of the injured, Jhorna Mandal has been admitted to KCP hospital.
Temporarily, after this incident, the protesters have moved away from the demand for the development of the railway. They have now demanded the removal of the driver who drove the train amid the mob. The train services in the south section is hampered due to this now.And the passengers are suffering for this. A student union leader has demanded they will continue the protest until the accused driver is removed.
