Latehar: Palamau express derailed after suspected Maoists blew up stretches of railway tracks in Latehar district. Although the engine and three coaches of the Patna bound train was derailed no casualties or injuries were reported.

The station master said the blast occurred around 8 PM near Kuchila village between Chhipadohar and Barwadih stations.

Passengers were stranded at a nearby railway station. According to a passenger, “We are not sure whether we will be rescued from here or not, some people are saying another train will come but some others are saying it won’t.”

The CPI(Maoist) is observing a 24-hour bandh on Tuesday in Bihar and Jharkhand to protest against the gunning down of their cadres in Palamau district on June 9.
