Islamabad: In a shocking news, a young cricketer from Pakistan, Zubair Ahmed, had died on the country’s Independence Day – 14th August, after being hit by a short pitch ball.
According to the reports, Zubair, who hailed from Mardan area, was hit a bouncer in the head during a club match and succumbed to the injury.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Wednesday, took Twitter to express grief and to remind that why safety gears like Helmets must be worn all the time while playing.
“Tragic death of Zubair Ahmed is another reminder that safety gear i.e. helmet must be worn at all times. Our sympathies with Zubair’s family,” wrote PCB.
Apart from Zubair, Australia batsman David Warner also got hit by a bouncer during a practice match for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh.
