Jammu: Ceasefire violation reported at Nowshera sector in J-K on Wednesday. At least seven civilians were killed and eight injured on Tuesday after Pakistan Rangers again violated the ceasefire along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) in Samba, Jammu and Rajouri districts in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, an encounter is currently underway between security forces and terrorists in Bandipora’s Ajar village.
“Pakistani Rangers started firing with small arms followed by mortars at one place and further spread to four or five places in Ramgarh and Arnia sectors of Samba and Jammu district from 0630 hours,” DIG BSF (G) Dharmendra Pareek said.
The Pakistanis fired 82 mm mortar bombs intermittently, Pareek said, adding that the BSF gave them a befitting reply.
A young woman, who was 21 or 22 years, and another civilian were killed during shelling in a hamlet in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district, SSP Joginder Singh said. At least two women were killed in Paniyari village, while two boys were killed and eight people were injured in the Ramgarh sector of the state. A 19-year-old girl was killed and two civilians were injured in Nowshera, Arnia and Ramgarh sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
