Srinagar: Calling Pakistan a well-wisher and sympathizer for the Kashmiri people, separatist and Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that people will continue to wave Pakistani flag during the rallies in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Pakistani flags have been waved (in Kashmir) and, In Sha Allah (God willing), will be waved in future as well as Pakistan is our neighbour and a well-wisher,” he said adding that Kashmiris did not wish ill for India.
Pakistani flags have appeared at several separatist rallies in Kashmir since April 15, 2015 leading to severe criticism of the People’s Democratic Party government in the state by opposition parties. Ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also voiced its disagreement with the PDP over the issue.
The first instance took place on April 15 during a rally organised by Hurriyat to welcome Geelani from Delhi. The state government reacted by arresting Masarat Alam and booking him under the Public Safety Act.
