Jammu: Ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Machhan, Sunderbani & Mendhar sectors being strongly retaliated by Indian troops. Pak violates ceasefire; resorts to firing, shelling along LoC in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district in Jammu, Army.
In yet another ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops at Line of Control, Indian Army has been strongly retaliating to the firing and shelling conducted by Pakistani troops. The situation has been intense at the border since last three weeks and especially after Indian Army on Thursday conducted surgical strikes at around seven terror launch pads at Pakistan-occupied Kashmir where more than 35-40 terrorists and their supporters were killed.
After the surgical strikes, Pakistan is left with red-faced and had warned India for dire consequence. In last one week more than a dozen times Pakistan had violated ceasefires at the border. According to news agency Press Trust of India, who quoted a senior unidentified officer tweeted, “Pakistan today evening violated ceasefire; resorts to firing, shelling along LoC in Sunderbani sector in Jammu”.
This is the sixth ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops at Rajouri in last one week. The violation took place moments after Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today addressed his Parliament first time after the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes.
There are no reports of any casualties from Indian side but few reports suggested that heavy firing has been taking place at the LoC. On Monday, Pakistan forces at the border intensified its attack and violated ceasefire by resorting to mortar and shelling on Army posts and civilian areas along the LoC in three areas of Noushera sector in Rajouri
The Monday’s unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops took place in three areas of Noushera Rajouri district. An Army spokesperson said that the Pakistani troops fired mortar bombs, automatic weapons and small arms after which the Indian troops gave a befitting reply.
In past 24 hours, Rajouri has been one of the most crucial areas where six times Pakistani troops had violated ceasefire with mortar shelling and firing. On Sunday five civilians most of them women were injured during the ceasefire violations and several shops were burned after a shell triggered a fire in oil containers at a security force camp.
On October 2, shelling started from Pakistan’s side at around 19:15 hours along the LoC at Pallanwala belt of Jammu district. On October 1, Pakistani military shelled Indian posts and civilian areas with mortar bombs, RPGS and HMGS amid small arms firing along LoC this sector. On September 30, Pakistani troops had broken the ceasefire and fired from small arms along the LoC in Pallanwala, Chaprial and Samnam areas of Akhnoor sector of Jammu district. On September 29, Pakistani troops resorted to firing in Balnoie area of Mendhar sector, news agency ANI reported.
Meanwhile Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday, once again invoked the name of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s name in his speech and this time while speaking at Parliament’s session. In his speech, Sharif claimed that India has wrongly implicated Pakistan in the Uri terror attack and also added that his country is ready for any challenge.
The comments were made a day after when Indian Express proved that Pakistan’s claims on surgical strikes were false. One of the eyewitness, who was quoted by today’s newspaper belonged from Pakistan occupied Kashmir and testified in favour of India. The eyewitness also claimed that the bodies of terrorists killed by Indian para-commandos were carried away in trucks.
