Pak refuses to invite J&K speaker at Parliamentary conference


Islamabad: Pakistan, which is hosting the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference has said that they won’t invite the Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly at the Conference as it would compromise its position on the Kashmir issue.

Sataz Aziz, Pakistan’s National Security Advisor termed Kashmir as a disputed territory and said that it didn’t recognize its assembly.

We will never invite the speaker of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Pakistan does not recognize and accept the said assembly as a legitimate one,” he said.

Pakistan is hosting the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference from September 30 to October 8. India has threatened to boycott the meet if the speaker of J&K assembly was not invited.

T C A Raghavan, Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan has said that Pakistan has violated the protocol by not inviting delegations from Kashmir.
