Pak detains ‘suspected’ Akram-Shooter


Karachi: Pakistan police on Friday claimed to have detained one suspect allegedly involved in the shooting incident involving the former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram, according to a report in the Dawn."The police have detained one suspect after raid on his home in Quaidabad's Daud Chowrangi locality," DIG Karachi-East Zone, Munir Ahmed Shaikh said on Friday. He also said that the arrested suspect is the driver of the vehicle which hit Akram's car on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the heated exchange which led to shooting afterwards.

Former Pakistan Cricket Captain Wasim Akram had a narrow escape on Wednesday when unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle fired at his car while he was coming out of a clinic in Karachi near the National Stadium. His car came under fire at Karsaz Road near the National Stadium while he escaped unhurt along with his companion. Akram called up police and registered a complaint and the police had launched an investigation in the matter.
