Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhasali’s magum-opus “Padmavati” starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor is set to release on November 17 next year.
Ranveer, 31, who is playing Alauddin Khilji, the second Sultan of the Khilji Dynasty in the film, announced its release date on Twitter in Roman numerals.
“XVII. XI. XVII,” he wrote along with a sneak peek of his look from the film. The picture captured an intense look of Ranveer’s kohled eyes with some battle scars on his forehead.
The film is a dramatized account of the 1303 annex of the Chittor fort in Rajasthan. Alauddin Khilji led the invasion, motivated by his desire to capture the beautiful queen Rani Padmini, the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh.
Ranveer is also awaiting the release of his romantic drama “Befikre”. Set for December 9 release, the film directed by Aditya Chopra, also stars Vaani Kapoor.
Ranveer and Deepika have previously worked with Bhansali in “Ram-Leela” and “Bajirao Mastani”.
