Pachauri in trouble, may face disciplinary action

New Delhi: The heat against Pachauri on sexual harassment complaint is growing as the Internal Complaints Committee of TERI is considering disciplinary action against Pachauri. The committee has filed a report mentioning that Pachauri’s conduct amounted to misuse of his position and violation of the organization’s policy on sexual harassment.

The complaints panel has recommended the initiation of disciplinary action against Pachauri and payment of compensation to the complainant for trauma and emotional distress.

On February 13, an FIR was registered against Pachauri on charges of sexual harassment under IPC sections 354, 354(a), 354(d) (molestation) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Pachauri is accused of sexually harassing a female junior colleague. After the sexual harassment complaint, Pachauri had even stepped down as chairperson of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in February and proceeded on leave from TERI.
