Overwhelming Welcome To Ranjinikanth In Hill For Maiden Shoot In Bengal

Darjeeling: Tamil Megastar Rajnikanth arrived to a warm welcome on Wednesday to the Queen of Hills and was instantly mobbed by passengers at the Bagdogra Airport near Siliguri. Rajinikanth will be shooting for more than 40 days in the Darjeeling Hills.At around 2:30 pm, the Tamil megastar landed at the airport near Siliguri.

The police and Rajinikanth’s security had a tough time controlling the frenzied crowd. “Darjeeling is world famous. I am sure I will have a great experience,” stated the megastar. He also abstained from commenting on the Supreme Court’s refusal to stall the release of his film Kaala.

The Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce had also called for a ban on his film, following the actor’s remark on the release of Cauvery waters.When questioned on this, Rajinikath replied, “We will have a release of the film in Karnataka too.”The actor then headed for the Hills. This is his maiden shoot in Bengal. The Tamil movie, which is still untitled, is being directed by Chennai based filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj.

The film will be shot in Kurseong and Darjeeling. Rajinikanth arrived in Kurseong at around 4:30pm and went straight to the resort located at Ashram Busty, Giddeypahar, Kurseong.Security was tight. Even media persons were not allowed to enter the resort, despite the steady rain. “I have been waiting for hours in the rain. I just wanted to see the megastar. I could not catch a glimpse of him at Bagdogra, so I drove up straight to Kurseong with a friend,” stated Ajay Prasad from Siliguri.

The film will be shot from June 7 to June 15 in Kurseong. From Kurseong, the actor will head for Darjeeling, where the film will be shot from June 17 to July 6. The film will then be shot in Kurseong again, from July 7 to July 12. After the end of the shoot in the Hills, Rajinikanth will head straight towards Varanasi. In Kurseong, the shooting will take place at Eastern Forest Rangers’ College, located at St. Mary’s Hill, Kurseong. “We will in no way allow the storyline or footages of the shoot to be leaked. Security will be tight during the shoot,” stated the production manager. A 700 member film crew has also arrived. Sets are being prepared by around 140 persons, who are working round the clock.
