Kolkata: Overnight heavy downpour from Tuesday night has interrupted everyday-life in Kolkata and South Bengal.
Common people are being puzzled in morning prime time as the roads are congested due to stag water and continuous rain.
Many places are waterlogged in the city and many districts of South Bengal. Statewide water-logging in many districts main sites like Nadia, East and West Bardhaman, East-West Midnapore, Howrah, Hooghly, South and North 24 Pargana have been reported till now. So city people are stuck in office time.
Attendance are significantly less in schools as well as in offices. Traffic moving slow. The local met office said the monsoon axis along with cyclonic-circulation is prevailing over Bay of Bengal. Forecast of heavy rainfall has been issued for North Bengal too.
On the other hand, people are being victims of landslides. This also engulfed Tarinipur, Durgapurgram, Raidanga villages. Alert issued for another seven villages. Residents of the villages are being shifted to safe places.
