Kohima: An encounter has been on with terrorists in Mon district of Nagaland since Tuesday night. There has been no casualty reported till now, the army has said.
On June 7, another encounter had taken place in the same district, located nearly 350 km from state capital Kohima. An Army Major had been killed in the encounter. Three terrorists of the NSCN-K (Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland, Khaplang) had also been killed.
Mon district, lying close to the India-Myanmar border, is a stronghold of terrorists. Not just Naga terror groups, but those from Manipur and Assam also use the area as a transit zone to slip through the porous border to access their bases in Myanmar.
