Kolkata: Bharti Airtel, India’s leading telecommunications service provider announced the launch of the fifth edition of ‘Airtel Run for Education’. As the city’s only fundraising sporting event contributing towards the cause of education for underprivileged children, the 2018 leg of this annual event will be held on the 25th of November, 2018, flagging off from City Centre 1, Salt Lake.
This noble cause is expected to be supported by more than 8000 participants from across the country. The marathon run includes four categories, Fun Run, 5 kms, 10 kms and 21 kms that are scheduled to be flagged off from the City Centre 1 venue at 7am, 6:45am, 5:15 am and 4:45 am respectively.

We being an organisation of young people between the age group of 18-40 look forward to promote general awareness, provide continued platform and reason to kick start a healthy life style for people of Kolkata. The icing on the cake is knowingly or unknowingly the participants are contributing towards the betterment of less privileged children in our society as all proceeds from the event would go for building schools for them.

The design of the spectacular coloured medal for ‘Airtel Run for Education 2018’ has been crowd sourced through online competitions.
RUN-FOR-EDUCATION is a fundraising sporting event, organized by Calcutta South Round Table 17 since 2014, to support the cause of providing education for the underprivileged children, with the idea of ‘Freedom through education’. Since 2001 , CSRT17 has built 45 classrooms across 15 schools at a total outlay of Rs. 1.51 crores, where the infrastructure built will impact around 5000 children every year. Out of this, 17 classrooms have been built with the support of this event itself over the last 4 years.
With its fifth year in succession, ARFE event has brought enthusiastic professional and novice runners on a single platform displaying the true spirit of sportsmanship whilst generating funds to provide education. Funds raised through this event in last four editions i.e. 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 was used towards building classroom facilities in Sarada Sishu Mandir (Tanterberia, Howrah) Katadanga Arya Jatiya Vidyalaya (Katadanga), Champdani Ram Dulari Hindi High School (Champdani), Kamarhati Union Primary School and this year the recipient would be Saraswati Shishu Mandir (Kanchdiha)
Airtel Run for Education 2018, Kolkata Edition is accredited by West Bengal Athletic Organization. The run setup will have three race categories over 5 km, 10 km and 21 km distances. With the run expecting 8000+ participants to run from City Centre, Salt Lake on 25th November 2018 at 4.45 am. This 5th special edition event has generated tremendous chatter on all social networks. A spectacular colored medal (the design for which was crowd sourced through online competitions) and 21K single loop race are the highlights for this edition.
