Only terrorism to be discussed at NSA talks, nothing else: Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj who addressed a Press Conference in New Delhi, said that there would be no other matters discussed at the NSA level talks except on matters related to terrorism. If Pakistan refuses to hold talks on terrorism, there would be no meeting and gave an ultimatum till today midnight to Pakistan to reply.

She said that the Ufa meeting between the two Prime Ministers were held where it was agreed that the two nations will be holding three meeting, one of which will be at NSA levels on Terrorism, another at DG BSF and Pakistan Rangers DG level on Peace at the border and DG Military operations of the two countries where ceasefire violations will be discussed.

She said, “Now Pakistan is trying to move away from the talks and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaj Sharif tried to stop the NSA level talks after facing pressure from his own country.”

She added, “After the Gurudaspur attacks there were pressure on us to cancel the NSA level talks but we didn’t cancel it. Even after the Udhampur attacks there were pressure on us to cancel the talks but we withstood all pressure and didn’t cancel the talks since the talks were to be held on terrorism.”

She also accused Pakistan of trying to bring in Hurriyat as a third party in the talks which clearly violates the Shimla Agreement between the two Countries where it was agreed that there would be no third party when there would be talks among the two nations.

She said, “Don’t bring Hurriyat in between the talks, else you are welcome for the talks.” She also declared that there would be no composite dialogues between the two nations unless there is an end of terrorism”, and urged Sartaz Aziz no to take the talks beyond terrorism.

Now, with the ball in Pakistan’s court, it is a matter of time for Pakistan’s reply on the issue whether they will continue with the NSA level talks or not.
