Midnapore: Police on Tuesday arrested another student in the Sabang College murder case. Sandeep Patra, a Congress affiliated Chatra Parishad member and a student of Sabang College was arrested by Kotwali police. He was interrogated yesterday over his alleged role in the murder.
Krishna Prasad Jana, a third year student of Sabang Sajani Kanta Mahavidyalaya, Midnapore, was allegedly beaten to death by members of Trinamool Chatra Parishad (TMCP), the student wing of ruling Trinamool government in the state. Jana was a member of Congress affiliated Chatra Parishd and the murder was said to be the result of political clash between the rival parties.
Jana was allegedly attacked by TMCP supporters in the college premises and was brutally hammered in head. The incident caused panic and other students fled the spot. The teachers too were reluctant to invade the brawl.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had stated that the student was killed due to a faction fight within the Chatra Parishad and no TMC members were involved in the attack. Even the same tune was heard from the mouth of West Midnapore SP Bharati Ghosh.
Congress leader and the MLA of the constituency, Dr. Manas Bhuiyan had alleged that the police have sealed the statement of the Chief Minister and SP Bharati Ghosh who spoke in tunes of the Chief Minister.
