Om Prakash Rawat appointed as new CEC

New Delhi: Om Prakash Rawat has been appointed as the new Chief Election Commissioner(CEC) of the Country by President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday. Rawat is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1977 batch (Madhya Pradesh cadre) and a well known name in the country. Rawat will replace Nasim Zaid to head the Country’s election commission. An official press release said the appointment would be with effect from the date he assumed office.
