Odhisha govt wants court monitored CBI investigation

Bhubaneshwar: On Monday the Odisha Government sought for a court monitored CBI investigation into the saradha scam alleging that the investigation is not being conducted properly.

While adjourning the hearing of a PIL filed by Alok Jena on the multi crore Ponzi scam, the court asked the CBI lawyer Additonal Solicitor General Maninder Singh to file a response on the investigations conduted so far in the case.

CBI had earlier said that it is not being able to take up the probe in all chid-fund cases due to lack of man power.

The Supreme Court had ordered CBI probe into the chit fund scams in West Bengal, Odisha and Assam where various chit fund companies including Saradha had duped the investors of around Rs 10,000 crore. The court had also said that the people involved in the scam were getting the patronage of highly influential people.
