Kolkata: When the saffron party is making every effort to give a tough competition to Mamata Banerjee and her ‘United India’ federal front, one of its member seems to be busy in an afternoon nap.
A picture of Anal Biswas, the district BJP observer sleeping during a meeting, spread quickly through whatsapp on Thursday morning. Not only was he sleeping at a party meeting, but was sleeping when BJP National Convention was taking place at Delhi a few weeks ago.
The observer is already in trouble after courting controversy. It points towards factional feud within the party as chaos has erupted within the state leadership. It is well assumed from the already viral picture that the leader who was sitting beside him took the picture in a selfie mode. The picture shows that Biswas is sleeping in his seat while the meeting is underway.
The picture when posted in the whatsapp group was captioned as, “These are the state leaderships who are our district observers. It is unclear as to what message did they hear and bring from Delhi over the Prime Minister and other Central leaderships.”
District president Manas Bhattacharya is among those several persons who shared the image in the whatapp groups. However, according to him, he did not spread it, but have just forwarded it as a ‘message’. He claimed that someone else might have posted it. Bhattachrya is sure that the picture has been clicked at Delhi’s national meet.
On speaking to Anal, he said, “I have seen the picture and I have no personal opinion on it. I do not give any importance to what anyone is saying about it. I will inform about it to Dr. Subhash Sarkar, who is in charge of the Kolkata Zone. Will also inform Dilip Da (Dilip Ghosh, who is West Bengal BJP President).”
He further added, “I had called Manas Bhattacharya, but could not talk to him. I think he has mental problems.”
Explaining about sleeping during the meeting, Biswas said, “I work a lot and go to sleep at 2 am. I get up at 6 am. Which meeting was it, I am unsure as there are many state or central meetings. Maybe I had dozed off a little.”
Countering Biswas’s statements, Manas Bhattacharya said, “If he is angry upon me, I cannot help it but he was sleeping which he cannot deny as it is clear in the picture. If he wants an answer, then I will also speak.”
Accepting the existing differences of opinions in the party, Bhattacharya said, “Everyone is not of the same opinion in the party. Differences of opinion between me and him is natural.”
