Kolkata: A protest rally was organised at Dharamtala by the ruling party over the
ongoing Assam NRC issue on Sunday. The protest march was organised under the
leadership of minister of power Sovandeb Chatterjee.
BJP president Amit Shah had challenged the Trinamool Congress Party over the NRC
issue. He said, “Mamata Banerjee is actually helping the infiltrators by opposing
the NRC. Mamata must clarify her stand.”
However, the TMC will not get suppressed by this challenge. After observing black
day, the TMC party is observing a protest day in every districts on Sunday. It was
also observed in Kolkata. The rally was from Dharamtala to Lenin Sarani.
At least 40 lakhs people were left out from the draft NRC list of Assam published
on July 31. Shah had said that maximum of the non-included list are outsiders.
However, he assured from the Mayo road rally on Saturday that the centre will stand
by the refugees.
Sovandeb questioned, “Why did the BJP president remained mum on the future of those
people who were left out from the list.”
