New Delhi: Students from classes VI to VIII of Kendriya Vidyalayas desirous of learning German language are allowed to study it as an additional subject provided at least 15 or more students in a school opt for the same.
A Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) has been signed between Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, on 5th October, 2015.
The JDI aims at promotion of the teaching of German as an additional foreign language in the Kendriya Vidyalayas in conformity with the National Education Policy of India and for promotion of teaching of Modern Indian Languages in German educational institutions.
