Nodal Officer To Solve Low Voltage Problem In Howrah

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed on Friday the state power department to appoint a nodal officer to look into the complaints of low voltage in various parts of Howrah district and solve the issue at the earliest.

The directive comes after the Chief Minister’s Office was flooded with numerous complaints from the residents of areas like Panchla, Bally, Jagacha, and Amta. “”Why am I getting so many complaints?” she asked power department officials during a review meeting today cautioning them to deal the matter seriously.

In this context, she took a dig at the agitation in Bhangar in South 24-Parganas against establishing a power transmission centre. “If power grid is not set up how can we address power problem. How industries can be set up without power?” she asked.

She asked power department officials to keep trying to persuade people and make them realise the need for power transmission centre for development. The Chief Minister today inaugurated a stadium at Uluberia, a fire service station at Bally, and two farmer marts.
