No sweets exchanged as firing continues along the LoC

Wagah: Following the refusal of sweets by Pakistan at the Wagah border on the occasion of Eid and the rising tension among both the countries over the continuous violation of ceasefire along the border no sweets were exchanged between the Indian and the Pakistani troops on the occasion of Independence Day.

There have been 45 instances of ceasefire violations along the International Border in the last 45 days. While Pakistani troops resorted to morter shelling from last evening to late in the night in the Hamirpur sector, they also fired in Mand and Saujiyan sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. Two civilians were injured in firing by the Pakistani troops on the Indian posts along the LoC in Balakote sector from 1130 hours and are still going on.
