Kolkata: The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday shortly after the bridge collapse in Majerhaat, said addressing the press assures that, “If any negligence is found behind the bridge collapse then they will be not spared. Mamata Banerjee who is on an official visit to Darjeeling, said she wanted to return to the city but there were no flights so she had to postponed her arrival.
CM has also assures if the governing body of the bridge is found guilty then proper investigation will be done and the members of the concerned department will get punishment. An investigation committee has been formed under the leadership of the Chief Secretary.This committee will investigate the incident.

On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee return to the city but there were no flights so she had to postponed her arrival. She will return on Wednesday instead of today due to availability of flights and proper communication due to rain. However, after the bridge collapsed, Mamata addressed the media more than one time. She also said, “ Our team is focused on relief and rescue work. Our priority is relief and rescue. Rest of the investigation will be done later.”
On the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced ex-gratia for the dead and the injured. It is learned that she has announced Rs 5lakh for the family of the deceased and Rs. 50 thousand for the injured.
