New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today addressed the Kashmir violence issue in Rajya Sabha and said that there is no doubt about the fact that the unrest in the Valley was funded by Pakistan.
All-party meeting to be held on Kashmir issue on August 12; PM will also attend it. I am not trying to justify the use of non lethal weapon but it has been used before.
Security forces (in Kashmir) have been told to exercise as much restraint as they can. Despite 100 ambulances being damaged due to stone pelting in the Kashmir region, over 400 ambulances are still operating.
State government trying its provide to provide basic facilities amidst unrest situation created by some vested interest & misguided elements. I’m not saying that people living in Kashmir are leading a normal life, but state government is trying its best to provide basic facilities. Have no hesitation in saying that whatever is happening in Kashmir is sponsored by Pakistan. When I visited Srinagar and Anantnag on July 23 and 24, I met various delegations and J&K chief minister there to discuss the Kashmir issue.
Its not as if there is curfew all over the valley 24X7 for over 39 days now. Sometimes there is and then it is revoked. But there is a sense of apprehension so people do not venture out. There is enough stock available in the Valley – 18 days of LPG stock is available. Vegetables, fruits etc are also being made available during relaxation hours.
5600 tricks have reached the Valley since July 14 till now. Not saying there is normalcy but despite adverse situation we are trying to get amenities to them. About medical facilities, 2656 patients were admitted, 2500 discharged and 100 are still in hospitals. 100 ambulances were completely destroyed due to stone pelting. But we are still coping. 8000 surgeries, big and small, have been performed. Some patients have also been moved to Delhi for treatment.
