Kolkata: The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party had demanded central forces for the upcoming municipal elections. But their pleas fell in the deaf ears of the Central BJP leadership with the Central government denying the supply of central forces for the polls. The decision of the central government has raised questions on the accountability of the BJP.
The state BJP went through a lot of turmoil over the last few days regarding the selection of candidates for the upcoming polls. They had also demanded central forces from the Narendra Modi led NDA government but the Central government has denied to accept their demands.
Although they have been denied by the central leadership, the state BJP is still adamant on the usage of the central forces and has approached the State Election Commissioner. They have appealed to postpone the election until the arrival of the central forces.
