No ATM Charge Till Dec 30: RBI


New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India has on Monday decided that banks shall waive levy of ATM charges for all transactions, including both financial and non-financial, by savings bank customers done at their own bank ATMs as well as at other banks’ ATMs, irrespective of the number of transactions. This will be effective from November 10 to December 30.

A week ahead of the announcement on demonetisation of old Rs 500/1000 notes, the Reserve Bank had directed banks to recalibrate at least 10 per cent or 20,000 ATMs to dispense Rs 100 notes only. Banks were given 15 days to comply with the directions issued on November 2.

SBI Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya said In coming days, when rush decreases we will start dispensing Rs 50 & 20 notes apart from Rs 100 in ATMs.
