Patna: The Patna High Court on Thursday issued an order that Nitish Kumar can continue as the leader of Janata Dal (United) legislative party. The High Court issued the order after a review petition was filed by the JDU against the court’s order which had declared the election of Nitish as illegal.
On Thursday, the court had stayed his election as the JDU legislative Party leader after some supporters of CM Jiten Ram Manjhi, who has been expelled from the party, took legal step to stop Nitish from being the leader.
On Monday, Manjhi was expelled from JD(U) before Kumar was elected as the Legislative party leader. Nitish has claimed the support of 130 MLAs and even met President Pranab Mukherjee along with RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Samajwadi Party Leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. Among the 130 MLAs, 101 are from JD(U), 24 from RJD and five from Congress and one MLA from the CPI.
