New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency has announced a cash reward of Rs. 7 Lakh to any person providing information leading to the capture of dreaded militant outfit NSCN-K supremo SS Khaplang.
The announcement made on Thursday also included a cash reward of Rs. 10 Lakh for information leading to the arrest of Niki Sumi, the commander of the armed wing of the outfit.
The insurgent group is responsible for killing as many as 18 Indian Army soldiers in an ambush of a military convoy on June 4 in Chandel district of Manipur.
Hitting back after the June 4 ambush, Indian Army commandos had carried out what was claimed to be surgical strikes, hitting two camps of insurgents at two locations along Nagaland and Manipur borders with Myanmar, inflicting serious damage on the ultras.
NSCN(K), which reneged from a ceasefire in March, has been involved in a series of attacks in tandem with some other terrorist groups under the banner of an umbrella group ‘United Liberation Front of South East Asia’.
