NGT stays ban on 10 year old diesel vehicle in the capital

New Delhi: National Green Tribunal stays its order for 2 weeks to impound diesel vehicles in Delhi for over 10 years.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had banned all the diesel vehicles which are running on the Delhi roads for over ten years. A bench headed by NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar passed the order and it noted that countries like Denmark, Brazil, China and Sri Lanka are in the process of banning diesel vehicles.
The tribunal had, late last year, banned all petrol vehicles which are over 15 years old.

Truckers, who had last gone on strike in 2009 against the diesel price hike, said they will stop moving essential and perishable commodities into the national capital from Monday midnight, that is Tuesday, in protest of the ban.
