New Town Metro Project Robbery: 5 Bangladeshi Arrested


Kolkata: Five Bangladeshi has been arrested by New Town Police and Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate detective branch on metro construction material theft case on Monday. Earlier, police arrested four people in this incident. So far, 12 people arrested in the incident of robbery.

Police sources said, after questioning kingpin Raja Jaiswal and Nishant Jaiswal, police knew that a Bangladeshi gang was working with them in this area. Detective Branch of Bidhannagar police and Newtown Police arrested the eight people from Italgacha and Dankuni. Five of them are Bangladeshi.

Accused are residents of Khulna and Satkhira of Bangladesh. They are between 19 and 23 years old. They are Alamin Ahmed, Faruq Ali Sapui, Anarul Sahaji, Sabir Ali Sordar, Mohammad Sahin Biswas. Police estimate that everyone is living in the country with false documents and stole and robbery in factories and metro projects in different areas.

Amit P. Javalgi, DC headquarters, Bidhanagar Commissionarate said, there are additional surveillance in Newtown where the metro project is working. Police patrols have been extended in those places. Metro project officials have also been contacted. The contractors who are working on the project have also been asked to increase the safety and increase the CCTV cameras.
