New law in state for tourism Development

Kolkata: The West Bengal Government will constitute an Eco Tourism board to bring in development in the tourism industry without hampering the nature. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will herself be present in the board. The West Bengal town and country planning and Development Act was amended in this regard in the State Assembly, although CPI (M) MLA Gouranga Chatterjee, Anisur Rahman and Congress MLA Nepal Mahato feared that nature’s balance will be hampered due to this act.

They fear that the new law will collide with the Coastal Act and also curb the powers of the Pollution Control Board although Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim has rubbished all the claims and has said that the CM has always stressed upon the balance of nature. Rajarhat’s Eco tourism park and Eco tourist spot of Dooars are an example of that.
